The right side of the frame is marked “F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A” and “SCGA3898”. The left side of the trigger guard is marked with a triangle VP and “P”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a black blade, dovetailed to the slide. The rear sight is a Fully adjustable Bomar-style square notch dovetailed to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece G-10 black and gray grips The grips are in Excellent condition with no visible wear.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: Two 8-round magazines in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Two-tone combination Royal Blue finish on the carbon steel slide with brushed stainless frame with matte slide top.
Finish Originality: Original factory finish.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright, and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion with light fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows only light storage and handling marks. The screw heads are sharp, and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in its original blue Colt Custom Shop blue cardboard box with the matching serial number, factory manual, paperwork, and accessories. It includes a factory test target dated 8/22/12, and two 8-round magazines.

This example showcases Colt’s attention to detail with its attractive two-tone finish, pairing a Royal Blue slide with a brushed stainless frame, along with a matte slide top to reduce glare.
