Markings: The left side of the trunnion is marked “KG 30 2224”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “MOD: NDS-2SF / CAL: 5.45X39 / NODAK SPUD LLC / EDINA MN. USA / SN: K000205”. The rear of the dust cover is marked “2224”. The right side of the carrier is marked “2224”. The bolt and extractor are both marked “2224”. The left side of the grip is marked “CAA / made in Israel.
Barrel Length: 16.25” threaded. 18.25” with Muzzle Brake.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an adjustable post between two protective ears and the rear sight is an adjustable peep sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is 3 piece synthetic with finger grooved semi pistol grip, serrated and finger grooved forend, folding buttstock with trapdoor for cleaning kit (missing). The push button is very stiff and will take some force to fold the stock. There is little to no wear. There are a couple of light scratches. The LOP measures 12 7/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original to build
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is fouling in the grooves. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operation wear. The finish is strong and complete throughout. The screw heads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are crisp. Overall this rifle is in about Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a total of one magazine in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: The AK-74 platform was developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s as an evolution of the AKM, chambered in the lighter and higher velocity 5.45x39mm cartridge. Designed to improve controllability and reduce recoil while maintaining reliability, the AK-74 became the standard infantry rifle of Soviet and later Eastern Bloc forces. Civilian semi-automatic examples in the United States are often assembled from surplus parts kits using U.S. made receivers such as those produced by Nodak Spud. These builds retain the long stroke gas piston system and rugged construction that define the Kalashnikov design.
This example is built on a Nodak Spud NDS-2SF receiver using a Bulgarian parts kit and retains about 98 percent of its finish with only light operational wear and minimal handling marks visible across the metal surfaces. The synthetic furniture set with folding stock shows little wear with only a few light scratches and remains free of cracks or chips, though the folding mechanism is noted to be stiff. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and light fouling present, rating 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The rifle includes one 30 round polymer magazine and the action functions correctly.
