Our Assessment: The Ruger M77 Mark II All-Weather represents the evolution of Bill Ruger’s controlled-round-feed bolt action, pairing Mauser-style claw extraction and a fixed blade ejector with stainless construction and a rugged synthetic “Boat Paddle” stock. By 1991, the Mark II had earned a strong reputation among hunters who valued reliability in harsh climates. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, one of the most enduring and versatile sporting cartridges of the 20th century, this rifle is built around a chambering capable of handling everything from whitetail to elk with authority.
This example retains approximately 98 percent of its original stainless finish, showing only light handling marks and minimal operational wear. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 10 out of 10. The factory synthetic stock shows light cosmetic wear and some fading near the butt, yet remains solid and well-fitted, and the rifle also includes a new-in-box Hogue Overmolded replacement stock for those who prefer a softer, rubberized feel. The included Simmons ProHunter 3-9x scope is clear and properly mounted in Ruger rings. The action and safety function correctly, presenting a clean and well-equipped stainless Mark II ready for field use.
