Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-war Winchester Model 42 .410 bore pump action shotgun manufactured in 1934. The Model 42 was the first pump shotgun specifically designed for the .410 chambering and resembles its larger cousin, the Model 12. This is a nice example with a 26″ barrel chambered for 3? shells, choked Modified and with a solid rib. The gun has been refinished, so it looks good for its age. The gun appears to have had its stocks replaced with a beautiful set of deluxe walnut, straight grip, extended slide handle, wih a correct checker pattern for Winchester’s Deluxe grade 42. The gun is in Very Good overall condition as refinished, having signs of light use since the new finish was applied. This would be a gun for clays or in the field as well as a neat addition to a Winchester collection. Good luck and happy bidding!
