Our Assessment: The Remington Model 1100LW in .410 bore represents the scaled lightweight variant of one of America’s most successful semi-automatic shotguns. Introduced in 1963, the Model 1100 quickly became a dominant force in sporting clays, skeet, and upland hunting due to its gas-operated action and soft recoil characteristics. The LW designation indicates the lightweight receiver specifically engineered for smaller gauges, and in .410 configuration it offered shooters a refined, low-recoil platform ideally suited for skeet competition and small game. The 1973 production date places this example firmly within the golden era of Ilion, New York manufacture, when fit and finish on Remington sporting arms were widely regarded as high quality.

This example presents in excellent overall condition, retaining nearly all of its original blued finish with only minor edge thinning and light handling marks noted. The 25 inch vent-rib barrel with fixed Skeet choke and dual bead sighting system reflects its intended purpose on the skeet field. The bore is bright with no erosion observed and only minimal fouling present. The checkered walnut stock set remains structurally sound with sharp checkering and only light cosmetic wear. Overall, this 1973 Remington 1100LW .410 stands as a well-preserved and desirable lightweight semi-automatic shotgun from one of Remington’s most respected production periods.
