There are no structurally compromising chips or cracks. Overall, the stocks rate in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows no notable wear. The bluing shows only minor superficial imperfections that can be cleaned off. The bluing is deep and dark throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the half-cock safety. We have not fired this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 9422 XTR was introduced in the 1970s as a rimfire lever-action rifle that echoed the styling and handling of the centerfire Model 94. Manufactured in New Haven, Connecticut, the 9422 series quickly earned a reputation for smooth cycling, solid construction, and refined finish. The XTR designation indicated upgraded trim and attention to detail, and by 1983 the model had become one of the most desirable modern rimfire lever guns in Winchester’s lineup.
Chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, this rifle offers broad ammunition versatility within one of the most enduring rimfire platforms ever produced. The .22 S/L/LR chambering allows for flexible use ranging from light target loads to standard small game ammunition. The 20 inch barrel, traditional semi-buckhorn rear sight, and hooded front blade preserve the classic lever-action sight picture, while the grooved receiver allows for optics mounting without altering the rifle’s profile.
This 1983 example presents in fine to excellent overall condition, retaining nearly all of its original deep blued finish with only minor superficial imperfections. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, and the walnut stock set displays strong gloss finish and defined checkering, with only a small finish chip noted at the front of the forend. With its original matching box and paperwork included, this Model 9422 XTR stands as a well-preserved example of Winchester’s modern-era rimfire lever-action craftsmanship.
