Our Assessment: The Savage Model 10 has long served as a favored foundation for precision and varmint builds, and this example reflects a comprehensive upgrade from its original sporting configuration. Produced in the early to mid-2000s, the Model 10 action is widely regarded for its inherent accuracy potential and compatibility with aftermarket barrels and chassis systems. This rifle has been fitted with a Criterion stainless heavy contour barrel, and paired with a modern MDT LSS chassis and SCS-Lite Skeleton Carbine Stock, transforming it into a contemporary precision-oriented platform.

Chambered in .223 Remington, the rifle is built around one of the most widely used small-caliber centerfire cartridges in both varmint and target disciplines. The 1:9 twist 24 inch heavy contour barrel supports a broad range of bullet weights, and the fully free-floating configuration within the MDT chassis maximizes consistency. The mounted Sightron 6-24×50 scope, complete with 30mm QD rings and a bubble level, complements the rifle’s long-range and bench-oriented intent, while the included AICS-pattern MDT magazines provide reliable feeding.

This example presents in very good to fine overall condition, retaining nearly all of its finish with only light handling marks visible. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, and the action functions correctly. With its Criterion barrel, MDT chassis system, quality optic, and included magazines, this custom Savage Model 10 stands as a purpose-built precision rifle configured for varmint and target applications.
