Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “Pat Pend, Remington 22 LR Only” The barrel has date code and proof marks. The bottom of the pistol grip cap is marked “Remington Nylon 76”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is a u notch leaf adjustable for elevation and windage fixed to the barrel shroud. The top of the receiver is scope grooved.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece, Zytel synthetic mohawk brown, with capped checkered semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, plastic buttplate, black capped forend, and checkered forend with smooth white diamonds. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are scratches and handling wear throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some fouling and dust from storage. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its original metal finish. There are scratches, light handling marks, and corrosion freckles throughout. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are all clear and legible. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the trigger and the tang safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Remington Nylon 76 represents one of the more innovative chapters in mid twentieth century American rimfire design. Introduced in 1962 as a lever action companion to the wildly successful Nylon 66, the Nylon 76 carried forward Remington’s bold use of Zytel synthetic construction at a time when traditional walnut stocks still dominated the market. This Mohawk Brown example, bearing the 1962 LJ date code, features the distinctive one piece synthetic stock with capped semi pistol grip and the buttstock mounted tubular magazine that gives the rifle its clean, uninterrupted profile. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 19 1/2 inch barrel, it reflects the era’s emphasis on lightweight, weather resistant sporting arms for youth and small game hunting.
This rifle retains approximately 90 percent of its original blued finish, showing scattered scratches, light handling wear, and minor corrosion freckling consistent with responsible use. The screw heads remain sharp and the markings are clear and legible. The Mohawk Brown Zytel stock with fluted straight comb, plastic buttplate, black capped forend, and checkered panels with smooth white diamonds shows general handling wear but no chips or cracks, rating Very Good overall. The length of pull measures 13 5/8 inches. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, showing some storage related fouling and dust, and rates 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion.
Mechanically, the lever action cycles correctly, and both the trigger and tang safety function as intended. The Nylon 76’s light weight and corrosion resistant construction made it a practical field rifle that could withstand adverse conditions without the maintenance demands of traditional wood stocked rimfires. Produced for only a few years, the Nylon 76 remains less common than its semi automatic sibling and stands as a distinctive example of Remington’s forward thinking design during the 1960s sporting rifle market.
