Action Type: Semi-Automatic rifle fed by detachable magazines. 

Markings: Rear top of the receiver is marked “US RIFLE M1A SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 297958”. The top of the bolt carrier group is marked “7790186-SA F00253”. The trigger group is unmarked. The rifle to stock fit was very tight so I did not remove the rifle from the stock therefore some of the markings will be omitted. The right side of the front sight is marked “NM 062”. The bi-pod is marked “U.S. W.M.I. BIPOD RIFLE M2”. The windage knob is marked with “LEFT” twice and two arrows also “SA”.    

Barrel Length: 22”, 25” with the classic flash hider. 

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings.  

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is an M1A pattern walnut stock with sling loops, a 13” length of pull and a hinged buttplate with storage in the butt containing a cleaning kit. The wood shows minor lines and some small scattered compressions. The toe of the heel shows a small marr as well. There are no chips or cracks. The fiber upper handguard shows minor handling. The butt plate functions correctly and shows virtually no wear. Overall this stock set is in about Excellent condition.    

Magazine Quantity & Condition: This rifle includes 4×20 round and 1 ten round magazines. 5 magazines total all in Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. The feed ramps are smooth and shiny showing minor copper fouling. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.75/10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show very minor rub wear. The side of the op-rod has a notable marr just in front of the charging handle. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in Excellent condition.    

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
