Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked with Remington’s Ilion, NY address, along with “243 WIN”, and the “OC” date code. The right side of the barrel is marked with a series of proofs. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number, and “Remington / MODEL 700”.
Barrel Length: 22″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade, dovetailed to a serrated ramp, screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable U-notch sight on a riser, screwed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece, gloss finished, skip-line checkered walnut stock, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted monte carlo comb with cheekpiece, checkered plastic Remington buttplate, a capped forend, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock shows light wear, with some minor chipping of the finish on the plastic buttplate. The gloss finish is intact throughout. The checkering is well defined. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Fine to Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows no notable wear. The bluing is deep and dark throughout. The jeweling on the bolt is vivid and bright. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 BDL Custom Deluxe represents one of the final iterations of the classic BDL sporting rifle, blending traditional styling with late-production fit and finish. Built in 2008 by Remington at Ilion, New York, this rifle reflects the long established Model 700 lineage that has defined American bolt-action sporting rifles for decades. Chambered in .243 Winchester, it embodies a cartridge long favored for its mild recoil, excellent accuracy potential, and versatility across varmint and light big-game applications.
This example is exceptionally well preserved, retaining approximately 99 percent of its original blued finish. The metal surfaces remain deep and even in tone, with vivid bolt jeweling and crisp, fully legible markings throughout. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and shows no erosion, rating a full 10 out of 10. The gloss finished skip-line checkered walnut stock remains tight to the action, with well-defined checkering and only very minor cosmetic wear limited to light chipping on the plastic buttplate. Overall presentation is clean, correct, and notably sharp.
Mechanically, the action cycles smoothly and the safety functions as intended. The inclusion of the original serial-number-matching box further enhances the appeal of this rifle as a late-production BDL example. Overall, this Remington 700 BDL Custom Deluxe stands as a fine to excellent specimen that captures the classic Remington sporting rifle aesthetic in near-new condition.
