Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “- WINCHESTER MODEL 70 30-06 SPRG. -“, along with Winchester’s New Haven address. The top of the barrel is marked with a circled “WP” proof mark. The right side of the barrel is marked “- CLASSIC SUPER GRADE BOSS -“. The left side of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK -.”. The right side of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The floorplate is marked “- SUPER GRADE -“.
Barrel Length: 22″. 24 1/2″ With BOSS brake.
Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a two-piece Leupold style scope mount, and 1″ rings for optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut stock, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb with shadow-line cheekpiece, red Winchester rubber buttpad, a black tipped forend, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 7/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light wear, with a few scratches, dings, and compressions scattered throughout, with the most notable imperfection being a small scrape that goes down the right side of the wrist. The checkering remains mostly well defined. The stock’s finish is intact throughout, and the wood grain is tight, and contrasts well with the blued metal. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational wear on the bolt. The jeweling on the bolt and magazine follower is still mostly vivid and bright. The bluing is deep and dark throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are lightly tooled, but retain strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
