Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 64 represents one of the most refined sporting evolutions of the Model 1894 lineage, introduced in 1933 as a higher-grade deer rifle intended for the North American hunting market. Featuring a longer barrel, pistol grip stock, and shotgun-style buttplate, the Model 64 was designed to offer improved balance and shooting comfort while retaining the proven top-eject lever-action system that made the 1894 platform famous. Chambered most commonly in .30-30 Winchester, the Model 64 became closely associated with Eastern and Midwestern deer camps, earning a reputation as a practical yet elegant sporting rifle during the mid-20th century.
Modern reintroduction of the Model 64 followed Winchester’s post-2000 production strategy, with manufacturing entrusted to Miroku of Japan under the Winchester name. Miroku-produced Winchester rifles are widely respected for their precise machining, excellent metal preparation, and consistent wood-to-metal fit, faithfully recreating classic Winchester profiles while benefiting from contemporary quality control. The 2013 production examples maintain the traditional lines and handling characteristics of the original Model 64, while offering modern reliability and finish standards expected by today’s collectors and shooters.
This particular rifle presents as a high-quality modern example, retaining strong original finish, clear markings, and a bright bore with sharp rifling. The stocks show only light handling marks consistent with careful use, and the rifle remains accompanied by its original matching box and paperwork, enhancing its overall desirability. Taken as a whole, this is a well-executed continuation of a classic Winchester sporting rifle that bridges historical design with modern craftsmanship, making it an appealing addition to any Winchester collection, Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition and good luck with your bids!
