Our Assessment: The Molot Vepr-12 is a robust Russian-built magazine-fed shotgun developed from the RPK-pattern receiver, giving it a heavier, reinforced foundation compared to many standard AK-derived shotguns. Manufactured in 2016 during the final years of Russian export availability to the U.S. market, the Vepr-12 reflects Molot’s focus on durability and reliability under sustained fire. The 18 inch barrel with threaded muzzle device, top-mounted Picatinny rail, and adjustable rifle-style sights combine traditional Kalashnikov lineage with modern tactical adaptability. Its RPK-style receiver construction and solid trunnion architecture distinguish it from lighter-pattern shotgun variants.
This example presents in fine overall condition, retaining the vast majority of its original anodized black finish with only light operational wear and scattered surface marks visible. The smooth bore remains bright with no erosion and only minor fouling noted. The mixed polymer and thumbhole stock configuration shows minimal wear, and the extended magazine package, including multiple 5- and 10-round magazines, enhances its completeness and practical appeal. Overall, this Vepr-12 stands as a well-preserved example of a Russian RPK-based shotgun platform from the final period of importation, combining heavy-duty construction with modern magazine-fed capability.
