Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is minor fouling present but no erosion. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates at a 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. With the illegible serial number under the stock wrist, it is impossible to tell if the scope mount is matching to the original scope that was issued.  This rifle retains much of its rust proofing paint. There are handling marks and thinning on the leading edges throughout. The screw heads show light use. The markings are legible. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition as a C&R.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with ONE 10-Round magazine with matching serial number and the aforementioned reproduction TEL STG No.32MK II scope.

Our Assessment: The British No.4 Mk I (T) represents the pinnacle of Commonwealth sniper rifle development during the Second World War, selected from standard No.4 Mk I rifles for superior accuracy and then converted to sniper configuration under the British sniper program. Rifles so designated were marked with the distinctive “T” and “TR” on the receiver and underwent specialized fitting, including bedding, installation of scope mounting pads, and final inspection. This 1944 BSA–Shirley example reflects late-war production, when the No.4 (T) was seeing extensive service with British and Commonwealth forces and had proven itself as a rugged, accurate battlefield sniper rifle.

Chambered in .303 British, the rifle benefits from the Lee–Enfield’s famously smooth, fast-cycling bolt action paired with a 25.2-inch barrel well suited to the cartridge’s ballistics. Correct sniper features are present, including the raised cheekpiece, additional sling attachment points, matching bolt and magazine, and retained iron sights for emergency use. The receiver-mounted scope pads and marked mount components are consistent with No.4 (T) configuration. The serial number beneath the buttstock wrist that would have originally corresponded to the issued scope is now illegible, making it impossible to determine whether the current mount aligns with the rifle’s originally assigned optic.

This rifle is fitted with a clearly disclosed modern reproduction TEL SIGHTING No.32 Mk II scope, correctly styled and marked for period appearance. The reproduction optic features clear glass and a German reticle and is presented in Very Good condition, providing the correct visual profile and shooting experience without being represented as original wartime issue. The rifle itself retains approximately 95 percent of its metal finish, including much of its rust-proofing paint, and the bore remains bright with sharp rifling. Taken as a whole, this No.4 Mk I (T) offers an honest, well-presented example of Britain’s WWII sniper rifle program, combining authentic rifle components, solid overall condition, and a properly identified reproduction scope.
