Sights / Optics: There are no optics or sights. There is a Bushnell Sportview 4-12X scope mounted in Redfield mounts
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut with a traditional pistol grip, fluted straight comb, red rubber buttpad, and sling studs front and rear. There are some light scratches on the stock.The action is bedded in the stock. The checkering is well defined with sharp peaks. There are no chips orcracks. The LOP measures 13 1/2? from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad has no visible wear. Overall, the stock is in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some erosion in the bore. There is fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates about a 7/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some faint loose storage marks and a scuff on top of the barrel. There is minor fine corrosion scattered on the outside of the barrel. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This rifle employs a controlled round feed bolt. The safety is mounted at the back of the bolt on the right side. It has three positions. Pushed all the way forwards, the safety is off and ready to fire. In the middle position, the safety blocks the trigger, but allows the bolt to be opened for loading and unloading. In the rear position, the safety blocks the trigger and the bolt. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Often referred to as “The Rifleman’s Rifle,” the Model 70 earned its reputation through reliability, strength, and excellent handling characteristics. The Classic Sporter configuration reflects Winchester’s effort to maintain traditional design elements while catering to modern hunters who valued accuracy, clean lines, and proven mechanical design.
Chambered in 7mm Shooting Times Westerner, this rifle is built around a high velocity magnum cartridge introduced in the late 1970s to deliver flat trajectory and long range performance. Based on the 8mm Remington Magnum case necked down to 7mm, the 7mm STW is capable of exceptional downrange energy and minimal bullet drop, making it well suited for open country hunting. The 26 inch barrel maximizes the cartridge’s velocity potential, and the mounted Bushnell Sportview 4 to 12 power scope in Redfield mounts provides a practical optic pairing for extended range use.
This example retains approximately 95 percent of its original blued finish, with only faint storage marks, a small scuff on the barrel, and minor fine corrosion scattered externally. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, showing erosion and fouling consistent with use, and rates 7 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The walnut stock remains in Excellent condition with sharp checkering, tight bedding, and no cracks or chips, measuring 13 1/2 inches in length of pull. Markings are clear, screw heads are sharp, and the controlled round feed action functions correctly with a three position safety. Overall, this Model 70 Classic Sporter stands as a powerful, accurate, and well maintained example of Winchester’s modern magnum bolt action heritage.
