Our Assessment: The SKB Model 100 represents the high-water mark of Japanese double-gun production during the late 20th century, produced at a time when SKB was building side by side shotguns to a standard that rivaled far more expensive European offerings. Imported by Mitsui through Chicago in the early 1980s, the Model 100 combined traditional British-style proportions with modern manufacturing consistency, resulting in a durable yet refined sporting shotgun. The 28 inch barrels, fixed Improved Cylinder and Modified chokes, and single selective trigger place this model squarely in the classic upland and field configuration favored by American sportsmen of the period.
This example presents in excellent condition, retaining nearly all of its original finish with bright, mirror-clean bores and crisp receiver engraving. The walnut stocks show sharp checkering and correct dimensions, with no notable wear or structural issues, while the action locks up tightly and functions correctly throughout. Complete with its factory box and owner’s manual, this SKB Model 100 stands as a well-preserved example of Japan’s finest era of sporting shotgun manufacture, offering both mechanical quality and classic side by side appeal.
