Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a full buckhorn V-notch fixed dovetailed to the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The one-piece full -stock is smooth wood with a ramrod, wedge pin, straight grip, straight comb with cheek piece, and steel buttplate. There are very light scratches, handling marks, and pressure dents throughout. There are no chips or cracks.The LOP measures approximately 13 3/4” from the front trigger, 13″ to the set, to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates at about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the. There is light fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The bluing is very clean showing almost no wear.The case color is muted but not worn off. There are light scratches and small nicks throughout. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. The trigger is adjusted to have to set it before cocking.

Our Assessment: This custom full stock Hawken style rifle is a modern black powder build inspired by the classic plains rifles associated with the Rocky Mountain fur trade and western frontier of the nineteenth century. While not attributed to a specific maker, the rifle follows traditional Hawken form with a long octagonal barrel, full length stock, and robust furniture intended for durability and accuracy. Chambered in .54 caliber, it reflects the practical hunting calibers favored by period riflemen while benefiting from modern craftsmanship and materials.
This example is fitted with a 37 inch octagonal barrel and retains approximately 95 percent of its metal finish. The blued surfaces are very clean with minimal wear, while the case colored components show muted but intact coloration. Markings remain clear throughout. The full stock is smooth wood with a straight grip, straight comb with cheek piece, steel buttplate, wedge pin, and ramrod. The wood shows only light scratches, handling marks, and minor pressure dents, with no chips or cracks noted. Length of pull measures approximately 13 3/4 inches from the front trigger and 13 inches from the set trigger, placing the stock in very good overall condition.
The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, showing only light fouling and rating 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. Mechanically, the rifle functions correctly, and the trigger is configured as a set trigger that must be set before cocking. This rifle includes its ramrod and presents as a well built and well preserved Hawken style muzzleloader with strong visual appeal and solid shooting potential.
