Our Assessment: Smith & Wesson’s Model 41 has long been regarded as one of the finest American-made rimfire target pistols, designed from the outset for precision competition and serious marksmanship. Introduced in the late 1950s and refined over decades of production, the Model 41 became a benchmark for trigger quality, balance, and mechanical accuracy. The 7-inch barrel configuration emphasizes a long sight radius and steady hold, traits that made the Model 41 a staple on bullseye firing lines and in collegiate and club-level competition well into the modern era.
This example shows light use consistent with careful ownership, retaining strong blued finish with only modest edge wear and faint freckling. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, and the trigger is notably light and crisp, exactly as expected from the model. The checkered target grips with thumb shelves are clean and well preserved, and the included magazines complete a desirable package. As a modern-production Model 41 that still reflects the classic design intent, this pistol remains an excellent representation of Smith & Wesson’s flagship rimfire target handgun.
