Our Assessment: This Swiss-made SIG 550P is the civilian iteration of the STGW90 / SIG 550-1. It is a semi-automatic 5.56 NATO rifle built on a 20.5″ barrel that balances flat trajectory and manageable recoil for practical accuracy at typical engagement ranges. The long-stroke gas piston operating system delivers proven, low-maintenance reliability and in this rifle exceptionally smooth operation under adverse conditions. The furniture includes a folding stock and an integral forend bipod transforming the forend into an immediately deployable support for accurate, rested shooting without extra kit. The rifle is fed by proprietary SIG 500-series magazines that lock up solidly and feed consistently, reducing stoppages and making reloads confident. Traditional iron sights are retained including a hooded front sight with flip-up tritium post matched to a four-position rotating drum rear aperture sight that includes a dedicated night-sight position, giving the rifle a clean, military-derived silhouette and all-weather usability. The whole package feels like a Swiss-crafted reinterpretation of the AK concept purpose-built, but with markedly better ergonomics, a more modern caliber, and the high-precision fit and finish one would expect from a Swiss made item. These combined traits make it an exceptionally well-made, user-friendly rifle that performs reliably in the field and rewards careful handling with consistent accuracy. This rifle is in about Excellent+-Like new condition showing only very minor handling, it includes the full kit, cycles almost unbelievably smoothly, and is a rare find on today’s market. Here in the writer’s room it was a head turning rifle and it will be one out on the range as well! Please see our high quality photos via the link and best of luck with your bidding!!!-R.L.
