Our Assessment: This example presents the classic Government/Service 1911 silhouette: solid steel slide and frame, conventional 1911 controls (thumb safety, grip safety, slide serrations), and the 5-inch sight radius that keeps the platform steady and familiar. Built by USFA to Government-model dimensions, these pistols are produced with modern machining and honest, service-style finishes while retaining the straightforward lines and mechanical layout that define the type.
The Navy provenance ties the design to the long history of 1911 service use and naval adoption patterns; USFA’s Government models themselves are a late-20th/early-21st century interpretation of the service pistol, made with tight tolerances with contemporary metallurgy and manufacturing methods. The pistol is both a functional example of the 1911 formula and an appealing, boxed presentation piece. Be sure to check our detailed pictures for a better understanding of the firearm. -C.R.
