Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 8-round magazine with a wooden base. The magazine has moderate operational wear, scattered surface oxidation, intact feed lips and a strong spring. This pistol also comes with a repro holster with cleaning rod and tool in about Excellent condition. A Luger booklet also comes with this pistol.

Our Assessment: This DWM-made P.08 from 1918 is an authentic, late-war Luger that carries the patina and service wear typical of front-line examples — the matching “7895/g” stamps, DWM script on the toggle, and period crown/eagle proofing anchor it in the final months of Imperial production. The P.08’s toggle-action and ornate proof marks speak to its role as a standard-issue service pistol in World War I; the 9mm Luger cartridge it chambers was introduced around 1902 by Georg Luger and quickly became the principal military and police cartridge for Germany and much of Europe, notable for its flat trajectory and service-era effectiveness. The included period-style magazine, wooden base, repro holster, cleaning rod, tool, and booklet add provenance and completeness to the package.

Cosmetically the pistol presents well for its age, retaining roughly 75% of its original blue with small parts strawed though largely muted toward white in places; there is honest thinning on leading edges and scattered oxidation consistent with service use. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates very well at 9/10, and the checkered walnut grips show solid, well-worn character without cracks. With its clear markings, strong bore, and a useful set of accessories, this Luger remains a compelling period piece that sits at the intersection of historical significance and collectible condition. We are no longer offering layaway. Please see our photos and good luck with your bid! -N.P
