Our Assessment: USFA revolvers occupy a special place in modern American arms history, standing as some of the finest Single Action Army reproductions ever produced—often surpassing even late-20th-century Colt production in fit, finish, and old-world attention to detail. Built in Hartford just steps from the original Colt factory grounds, these revolvers were assembled with a level of hand-fitting rarely seen in contemporary manufacturing, mirroring the classic 19th-century lines while elevating the mechanical precision far beyond their historical predecessors. This example, the very low serial number BK1, showcases the company at its absolute best: deep polished blue, vivid bone-charcoal case colors, crisp patent dates, and a flawless 7½-inch barrel that echoes the earliest cavalry models of the post-1873 frontier.

The .45 Colt chambering further ties the revolver back to its 19th-century origins—introduced in 1873 alongside the original SAA, the cartridge became synonymous with the mounted service revolvers that patrolled the American West during the Indian Wars era. In hand, this revolver carries the same authoritative balance and long sight radius that those troopers would have recognized, yet with a refinement and smoothness only a high-grade modern maker like USFA could deliver. With its exceptional condition, matching-numbered components, and original box and accoutrements, this revolver stands as an outstanding example of Hartford craftsmanship from the final and most respected era of USFA production.
