There is oxidization throughout with pitting in some areas. The leading edges have some thinning. There is a mild amount of action wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings range from clear to worn. Overall, this pistol is in about Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.

Our Assessment: This 1939 Mauser P.08 is a tangible example of late-interwar / early WWII Luger production, retaining clear wartime proofing and unit marks — notably multiple “63” Waffenämter and the distinctive poultry inspector mark often called the “spooky chicken.” Several external parts have been force-matched and internal components show the “71” stamping, which speaks to armory-level refurbishment and parts interchange typical of period service pistols. The pistol has been refinished and shows roughly 75% of its metal finish remaining with honest wear, thinning on leading edges, scattered pitting and light oxidation.

Functionally the action is reported to operate correctly and the bore, while bright with defined rifling, shows light erosion and rates 6/10 in this writer’s opinion. Grips are sound with only light handling marks and a small chip to the left panel; no accessories are included. As a historically interesting, service-era Luger with clear Waffenamt provenance and presentable mechanicals, it suits a collector interested in period examples; we are no longer offering layaway. Please see our photos and good luck with your bid! -N.P
