Our Assessment: This is a Savage Fox Model BSE Series-H side-by-side shotgun, manufactured in 1990 and chambered in 410 bore for 3” shells. The Fox BSE was one of Savage’s higher-end utility doubles, offering classic lines and rugged reliability in a working man’s sporting gun. Featuring dual extractors and a mechanical box-lock action, the BSE was built with upland hunting and skeet shooting in mind. This model has 26” barrels, giving it lightweight, quick-swinging on fast-moving birds.
An upgraded version of the Stevens 311, the Fox would serve well on the skeet range or in the field. It weighs in at 6lb, 6oz, so it should be quite manageable even for smaller shooters. Please see our photos.
