Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1A M-25 style rifle is a highly refined variant of the M1A/M14 platform. This rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO) and features a Krieger heavy match-grade barrel, designed for exceptional accuracy with long-range precision ammunition. The McMillan stock provides a rigid, stable shooting platform, while the two-stage trigger makes it ideal for precision shooting. Weighing just over 16 lbs., this rifle is built for accuracy and stability rather than portability. Topping off the rifle is a Top Tier First Focal Plane Nightforce NXS MIL-SPEC scope, providing enhanced clarity and precision for long-range engagements.

The M-25 is a modernized version of the M21 sniper rifle, originally developed for U.S. military snipers in the Vietnam War. Unlike standard M14/M1A rifles, the M-25 features a bedded receiver for added rigidity, a heavier match grade barrel, and hand-fitted components for maximum precision. The commercial version of the M-25 was nicknamed the “White Feather” after Carlos Hathcock one of the most decorated Marine snipers in history, with 93 confirmed kills and likely many more unconfirmed. His legendary exploits, including crawling for days through enemy territory to eliminate a high-value target and shooting an enemy sniper through his own scope, cemented his legacy as one of the greatest marksmen in military history. In conclusion, the M-25 rifle has a storied history and has made an impact on modern sniping tactics, making it a highly sought-after rifle among collectors and precision shooters alike.
