Our Assessment: This Israeli IMI Galil Model 372 is a rare and desirable pre-ban semi-automatic import, brought into the U.S. by Action Arms in the 1980s during a brief window before the 1989 import restrictions. Based on the battle-proven Galil ARM (Automatic Rifle Machine gun), the Model 372 is chambered in .223 Remington and is a semi-auto civilian counterpart to the IDF’s standard-issue 5.56mm rifle of the late Cold War era. Built by Israel Military Industries (IMI), the Galil was developed from lessons learned with the FN FAL and AK platforms, resulting in a rugged, reliable, long-stroke gas piston rifle incorporating elements of both. Features such as a right-side folding tubular stock, integrated tritium flip-up night sights (expired), and polymer handguards reflect its military pedigree, while the 16.5” barrel with flash hider brings it into a carbine-length profile desirable for collectors and shooters alike.
This example is in excellent condition overall, retaining about 97% of its original finish with minimal handling marks and sharp, clean markings throughout. The furniture—steel folding stock, polymer grip, and ribbed handguard—shows light signs of wear but remains structurally solid and aesthetically sharp. The bore is outstanding, bright with sharp rifling and only light fouling, earning a 9.5/10 in this writer’s opinion. The rifle includes one 35-round magazine, matching rear sight, and correct import markings. For collectors of Cold War small arms, pre-ban imports, or Israeli military firearms, this Galil 372 is a highly sought-after piece that combines tactical appeal with historical relevance. -R.E.
