Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set on this shotgun is a two piece checkered walnut set with a slab side Schnabel non removable forend and a straight hand Perch belly stock, with straight comb and a black vented rubber butt pad. The LOP is 15.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt pad. The drop at comb is 1.5” and the drop at heel is 2”. The shotgun weighs 7lbs. The wood shows surface level lines, compressions and several scratches. There are no visible chips or cracks. The White Line rubber butt pad is semi pliable and shows wear from age. The most notable marks are on the left side of the stock just behind the wrist and the left side of the nose of the forend. Overall the furniture set is in Good+ to Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: Blue/Coin
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bores are very bright with no erosion or pitting. They show minor lines from use with some minimal plastic fouling in the forcing cones. The chambers are very clean for a shotgun of this age. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains 98% of its metal finish. The barrel set shows some minor scattered marks, the most notable being on the right side of the lower barrel about 4” in front of the forend and the rub mark from the forend. The bottom metal and the receiver show scattered surface rust mainly in the serrations of the safety and takedown lever. There is also some surface rust around and on the tang lever in the recesses. The trigger guard also has several spots. The inside of the action shows minor rub wear and some pitting on the breach face from responsible use. The markings are clear and the screw heads sharp. Overall this shotgun is in about Good+ to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun features a single selective trigger and ejectors. The barrels lock up solidly. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened but does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun includes the two installed chokes.
Our Assessment: This Browning B25 B2G is a 12-gauge over/under made in 1976, fitted with 27.5? barrels and engineered for both clay and field work while carrying a decidedly refined appearance. The barrels have been threaded to accept Briley thin-wall chokes, upgrading the original full-over-modified configuration and adding flexibility for patterning and range use. This barrel set rides on Browning’s long lower-tang receiver, finished in coin with detailed engravings of ducks and pheasants that lend an elegant, sporting character to the gun.
Handling and function are straightforward and user-focused: a single selective mechanical trigger and a non-auto-resetting safety promote ease of use, while the straight hand perch “belly” stock is finely checkered for a secure grip and natural point of aim. Between the upgraded choke capability, classic Browning fit and finish, and nicely executed engraving and stock work, this B25 B2G blends practical versatility with collectible presence, ready to shoot or to sit proudly in a fine gunroom.
