Action Type: Top-Break Over/Under Shotgun with Single Selective Inertial Trigger and Ejectors. NON auto re-setting safety. 

Barrel Length: 32” Vent-Rib

Choke: The bores are threaded for Winchoke choke tubes. Currently installed FULL/MOD. Also includes extra FULL, FULL, Improved MOD, 2x Improved Cylinder, and SKEET. 8 x Chokes total.    

Sights / Optics: There is a large white bead in a base at the front of the rib and a smaller white mid-bead. The rib is finely serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two-piece, high gloss, checkered walnut with semi-beavertail forend with finger shelf. The stock is a semi-pistol grip, with checkered cheeks, fluted straight comb and vented rubber black butt pad. The length of pull measures 14.25″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt pad. The drop at comb is approximately 1.25″ and the drop at heel 1.75″. The cast is very slightly right handed. The shotgun weighs 8lbs 10OZ. The wood shows scattered surface level lines, small compressions, and a few small punch marks in the finish. The most notable two include one on the left top rear edge of the forend and one on the left side of the toe just in front of the pad. There are no visible chips or cracks. The butt pad shows minor rub wear but is still soft and pliable. Overall, the furniture set is in about Very Good+-Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bores are mirror bright and show no erosion. The barrels show some very minor lines from use with a small amount of plastic fouling in the forcing cones. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.75/10. 

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrels have minor rub wear from the forend that is concealed when assembled. The action shows minor operational wear again concealed when assembled. The bottom of the receiver has small rub marks just above the pigeon head. The right side of the bottom barrel about mid length has one tiny marr in the finish. The lower tang shows some rub wear with minor surface oxidation. The upper tang under the safety has some typical rub wear. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Very Good+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The barrels lock up with no play.  The safety does not return to safe when the action is opened, but functions properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The shotgun includes a Winchester luggage style case, the chokes mentioned above with some choke sleeves and a choke wrench. 

Our Assessment: This Winchester 101 Pigeon Grade XTR Trap is a purpose-built 12-gauge trap gun fitted with 2.75″ chambers and 32″ barrels threaded for Winchoke tubes, supplied with a full choke set spanning Extra Full down through Skeet for complete patterning flexibility. The ventilated rib carries both a prominent front bead and a smaller mid bead to speed target acquisition and refine sight alignment, and the threaded Winchoke setup lets the shooter tailor patterns for whatever target presentation they may encounter.

Furniture and fit reflect the Pigeon Grade’s trap intent: high-grade, richly figured walnut with tight checkering and checkered stock cheeks, finished to a high gloss that highlights the wood while protecting it from heavy use.
