Barrel Length: 24”

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the barrel is mounted with a quarter rib, topped with a Redfield 6-24×50 scope with a fine crosshair reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows no notable wear. Overall, the scope rates in Excellent condition. The scope sits in 1” rings, and comes with a sunshade.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two-piece checkered walnut, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, red rubber buttpad, and sling rings front and rear. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stocks show light wear, with light scratches and dings scattered throughout. The checkering is well defined. The stocks fit the frame tightly, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stocks rate in Fine to Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some dust in the bore from storage. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with some light surface corrosion on the left side of the quarter rib and barrel. Otherwise, the bluing is deep and dark throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the tang safety. The trigger has a crisp and clean break. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: The Ruger No. 1 is Ruger’s modern, precision-oriented falling-block single-shot—engineered for rigid lockup, a clean sighting plane, and inherent accuracy—and this 2018 example in 6.5 Creedmoor follows that exacting tradition. With a 24? barrel, quarter-rib set up for Ruger-style rings, and well-figured checkered walnut, the rifle combines classic single-shot simplicity with modern chambering and optics. Ruger’s one-piece action and neat fit-and-finish make the No. 1 a natural choice for shooters who value deliberate, repeatable accuracy and a straightforward platform for careful, long-range work.

Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor — a contemporary, highly efficient cartridge favored for long-range accuracy and manageable recoil — this No. 1 is fitted with a Redfield 6–24×50 and presents as a ready precision rig. The metal and stock present strongly, retaining roughly 98% of their original finish; the bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 10/10. The stocks fit tightly with only light handling wear, and the action, tang safety and trigger functioned correctly during inspection.
