Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO., NORTH HAVEN, CT., U.S.A. / MOD. 1894 M – MICRO-GROOVE-BARREL-CAL .22 W.M.R.F.” and at the rear with a “JM” proof mark. The upper tang is marked with the serial number “17135948”.
Barrel Length: 20” Round
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped base fixed to the barrel and slotted for a hood (none present). The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn elevator sight with a U-notch that is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled in four places for mounting a scope.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, checkered black hard rubber Marlin buttplate, nose cap, and Marlin “bullseye” in the buttstock. There are some minimal scattered scratches and scuffs throughout with some more notable scrapes on the left side of the buttstock. There is one small chip on the right side of the forearm. The LOP measures 13 1/ 2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows some chips out of the top and dirt embedded in the checkering. Overall, the stocks rate in Fine to Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling sharp. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish with some thinning on the lever. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range from disfigured to sharp but all retain serviceable slots. There are very few scratches or marks on the barrel exterior and on the receiver. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. The lever safety is present and functional. There is also a halfcock safety notch on the hammer. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
