Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS MO & MONTREAL PQ. / SPECIAL STEEL-12 GAUGE-SHELLS 2 3/4”. The underside of the receiver has the serial number, “2A43 / 132”. The right side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING PATENTS / MADE IN BELGIUM”. The receiver has engravings throughout. The receiver is marked “ Twenty Weight”.

The other barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS MO & MONTREAL PQ. / SPECIAL STEEL-12 GAUGE-SHELLS 2 3/4” on its left side. The right side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING PATENTS / MADE IN BELGIUM”.

Choke: Improved Cylinder, Poly Choke on other barrel (mod, imp cyl, slug, x full, full, imp mod)

Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a silver bead on the front of the barrel rib. The top of both barrel rib and receiver have checkering for glare reduction.

The other barrels front sight is a brass bead set atop the poly choke.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two-piece checkered walnut set with a rounded semi-pistol grip, straight comb, vented rubber buttpad, and checkered forend. There are light scratches and compression marks. The checkering remains well defined and semi-sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 1/8? from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion. There is plastic fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 8 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows handling and storage wear. There are light scratches and light finish loss throughout. Most of the wear is on the barrels. There is action wear on the barrels. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with two barrels as listed above paperwork, and a case in about Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This Browning FN Double Automatic “Twenty Weight” presents in Fine overall condition with about 98% original blue remaining and only light handling marks, chiefly on the barrels. The checkered walnut stocks are Excellent with sharp detail, correct fit, and no chips or cracks; LOP is 14 1/8″ to a vented pad. Mechanics: action functions, safety engages, and cycling shows typical long-recoil wear on the barrel surfaces. Two 12-gauge, 2¾” barrels are included: a 26.25″ tube with silver bead and Improved Cylinder choke, and a 25.5″ tube fitted with a Poly-Choke (X-Full to Slug). The bores are bright with no visible erosion; in this writer’s opinion they rate 8/10 (plastic-fouled barrel) and 9/10, respectively. Markings are clear and screws are sharp, consistent with careful use and storage.

A thorough cleaning to remove plastic fouling and refresh lubrication will aid reliability and preserve finish. With sympathetic care, it should continue to serve well while representing an innovative chapter in Browning’s post-war shotguns. Please see our photos and good luck with your bid! -N.P
