Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the barrel is mounted with a quarter rib, and is set up for Ruger-style rings.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some light lead fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows almost no notable wear, other than some operational wear on the falling block, and the fouling in the bore as mentioned above. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this barreled action rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the tang safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Ruger’s meticulous machining and refined fit make the No. 1 a standout single-shot platform, and this stainless barreled action in .416 Rigby carries the model’s clean lines, quarter-rib provision for Ruger-style rings, and the solid feel of a purpose-built heavy-bore action. Offered as a barreled action, it arrives without stocks and with factory accessories, reflecting Ruger’s production quality while leaving final configuration to the buyer or gunsmith.
Chambered in .416 Rigby — a celebrated early-20th-century big-game cartridge developed for deep penetration and dependable performance on dangerous game — the barreled action checks very well cosmetically and mechanically. The metal finish is essentially intact (approximately 99% remaining), the bore is bright with sharp rifling and is conservatively rated 9.5/10 with light lead fouling noted, and the action and tang safety functioned properly during inspection. Light operational wear is confined to the falling block; markings are clear and legible. The lot includes the original serial-number matching box, owner’s manual/paperwork, gun lock, and Ruger rings.
