Barrel Length: 24”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade, inserted and pinned into an integral barrel ring. The rear sight is an adjustable flip-up U-notch sight, dovetailed into a quarter rib, that is also set up for Ruger-style scope rings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two-piece checkered walnut, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, black rubber buttpad, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stocks show no notable signs of wear, other than the most minor of handling wear. The checkering is well defined. The finish on the stocks is strong throughout. The stocks fit the frame tightly, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stocks rate in Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows patchy surface corrosion throughout the barrel and receiver. There is light operational wear and corrosion on the falling block. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the tang safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original serial number matching box, owner’s manual/paperwork, scope rings, and gun lock.

Our Assessment: The Ruger No. 1 is a modern interpretation of the classic falling-block single-shot—engineered for rigid lockup, an unobstructed sighting plane, and inherent accuracy. Ruger’s one-piece action and refined machining make the No. 1 a precision-oriented single-shot platform, and this 2002 example in .375 H&H Magnum couples that pedigree to a 24? barrel and attractive checkered walnut furniture, presenting the clean lines and purposeful stance the model was designed to deliver.

Chambered in .375 H&H Magnum — the early-20th-century dangerous-game standard developed by Holland & Holland and prized for deep-penetrating performance with heavy bullets — this rifle checks out well mechanically and cosmetically. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 10/10, the walnut stocks are in Excellent condition and fit tightly, and the metal retains approximately 90% of its original finish with patchy surface corrosion noted on the barrel and receiver; the falling-block action and tang safety functioned during inspection. Supplied with the original box, paperwork, scope rings and gun lock, this No. 1 is a substantial, well-appointed single-shot example in a classic big-bore chambering. Once the corrosion is addressed and/or repaired, this rifle will make a fine addition to a Ruger No. 1 collection. Please check out our high quality photos, and good luck on your bids! – J.D.
