Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER–– MODEL 94 30-30 WIN. / MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The top of the barrel bears the Winchester proof mark. The left side of the barrel has a script “Great Western Artists II” The bottom right side of the receiver is inscribed “Bottega C. Giovanelli 835/999”, the master Italian Firearms Engravers. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number “4964235”.. The upper tang is marked “WINCHESTER”.
Engraving: Both sides of the receiver exhibit beautiful floral and oak leaf engraving from Bottega C. Giovanell, along with western scenes on each side inspired by C M Russell and Frederic Remington. The top of the receiver and rear tang also exhibit floral and oak leaf engraving. All of the engraving is over a Satin-finish stainless steel background.
Barrel Length: 20-inch round
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade atop a serrated riser that is screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is a U-notch semi-Buckhorn elevator sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is checkered walnut with a banded Carbine forearm, straight hand grip, straight comb, and checkered buttplate. The finish on the wood is relatively unmarred by operational or handling marks. The hand checkering is sharp and well-defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8 ” from the front of the trigger to the back of the plate. Overall the furniture set is in Excellent Condition.
Type of Finish: Blued barrel, lever, hammer and trigger with satin-finished stainless-steel receiver and barrel bands.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and shiny and the rifling is sharp. There is some minor fouling in the bore but there is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains 95% of its finish. There is slight discoloration of the finish on the barrel bands. The action shows minimal operational wear. The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. The markings are very clear, the screw heads are sharp and the pins are un-marred. Overall this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Winchester Model ’94 Great Western Artists With Case and Framed Artwork. This is another one of Winchester’s great run of meaningful Commemoratives. It sports a blued 20” round barrel with a hooded bead front sight and an elevator-adjustable rear semi-buckhorn sight. The magazine tube is full-length and has two stainless steel barrel bands. This rifle’s receiver’s sides, top and upper tang are engraved with vine-floral patterns. In addition, each side of the receiver depicts different scenes that are surely inspired by Frederic Remington and C M Russell western art. The left side shows several mounted cowboys riding at full gallop reminiscent of Remington’s “Coming Through the Rye” bronze casting. The right side has a mounted cowboy making his way down a steep incline. On this side the artist engraved his name and the numbers 835/999. On the upper tang is an engraved, floral scrolled area with the word WINCHESTER engraved in script lettering. The Walnut forearm and buttstock are hand checkered. This commemorative edition remains a sought-after piece among collectors and enthusiasts, reflecting both its historical significance and Winchester’s renowned craftsmanship.
