Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “TAYLOR & CO WINCHESTER VA/ A. UBERTI MADE IN ITALY”. The bottom of the receiver behind the lifter is marked “CAT.5991”. The lower tang is marked with the serial number “99253” and “A. UBERTI MADE IN ITALY”. The upper tang is marked “MODEL 1873”.
Barrel Length: 20” Octagonal
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to the barrel with a large ivory bead. The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn square notch elevator sight that is dovetailed to the receiver.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are custom laser-engraved in a beautiful star pattern on the forearm and the wrist. Stock has a straight comb, with a capped forearm, and a shotgun buttstock. The buttplate is covered with a tight fitting leather cover and we did not remove it. The wood shows some dings and scratches from operational use which was likely Cowboy Shooting competitions. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the end of the blued buttplate. There is a leather wrap around the lever. The stocks rate in Very Good+ overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 85% of its metal finish. The case coloring is very strong. There is thinning of the finish on the lever and the leading edges of the octagonal barrel. There are no major imperfections to speak of. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This rifle has been fitted with a short-stroke action done by the Cowboy’s & Indians Store. The short stroke operates perfectly and will save you many seconds on the range. The lever safety is present but the level lock has been removed. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance standards.
