Markings: The left side of the barrel is stamped “A.UBERTI MADE IN ITALY”. The top of the barrel is stamped “AHL MECHANICHSVILLE, VA.” The barrel near the chamber is marked “CAL.44-40”. The limited edition number “127 of 300” is stamped on the bottom front of the receiver along with the catalog number “CAT. 1583”, several Italian proof marks and the date code “BI” (1997.) The bottom tang is marked “A.UBERTI MADE IN ITALY” and the serial number “71363”.
Engraving: The rifle is fully engraved and beautifully finished in Gold toned plated steel with black accents. Both sides of the receiver depict the portraits of various notable Scouts of the Frontier with Wild Bill Hickock and Jim Beckworth on the left side with a banner stating: “Dedicated To The Lives And Legends Of Wm. F. Cody And The Scouts Of The Western Frontier”. The right side of the receiver has portraits of Jim Bridger, William F. Cody and Kit Carson.

Barrel Length: 24” Octagonal Barrel
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable tang peep sight. The original iron rear sight is missing but a sight base is still dovetailed to the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece Deluxe checkered with capped forend, Semi pistol grip, straight comb, and crescent buttplate. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks but there a couple of varnish drips on the pistol grip. Overall, the stocks are in Excellent condition with no handling wear. The checkering is crisp and the peaks are sharp.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is well defined. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish on both the barrel and gold-plated areas. Some of the portraits are fading from their original brilliance. The balance of the finish shows little or no operation wear. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. The hammer is case colored and the dust cover is blued. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. There is a lever lock on the lower tang. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
