Our Assessment:
Introduced in 2003, the Smith & Wesson Model 500 was purpose-built around the .500 S&W Magnum cartridge, one of the most powerful handgun rounds ever developed. Designed on S&W’s massive X-Frame, it was marketed as the ultimate revolver for dangerous game defense, handgun hunting, and as a technical showcase of modern revolver engineering.

The .500 S&W Magnum was created in collaboration with Cor-Bon Ammunition and remains among the most powerful production revolver cartridges, generating over 2,600 ft-lbs. of energy in some loadings. Its heavy projectiles and sheer stopping power have made it a choice for hunters pursuing large North American and African game.

This example, with its 4-inch barrel and integral muzzle brake, balances portability with recoil management. The stainless steel construction and rugged Hogue grips make it practical for field use, while its near-new condition will appeal to collectors and enthusiasts of modern S&W revolvers. Whether viewed as a hunting tool, a pinnacle of revolver design, or simply the ultimate “hand cannon,” this Model 500 is a striking piece of engineering that deserves a place in any serious collection. So bid high and bid firm. I encourage you to take a look at the condition of the revolver in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
