Markings: The left side of the chamber is marked “CAL 308W.” The left side of the receiver is marked “A56358 Made In CZECH REPUBLIC CZ550 CZ-USA KANSAS City KS.” Scope is marked “REDFIELD 4x TV-style.” Import and maker marks correspond with CZ-550 production and CZ-USA importation.

Sights / Optics: FS model fitted with fully adjustable iron sights; front sight is a blade protected by a hood and the rear sight is a fully adjustable V-notch. A Redfield 4x TV-style scope (rectangular viewing) is mounted to the square-bridge receiver.

Stock Configuration & Condition: Turkish walnut, Mannlicher-style full stock with cheek piece, Bavarian styling and steel muzzle cap. Pronounced pistol grip with sharp checkering on the grip and forearm; fit to the action is tidy and well proportioned. A Czech canvas sling is fitted. Length of pull measures approximately 14.5″. Overall length is 41.5″. Weight approximately 7.2 lbs.

Finish Originality: Finish appears factory original and consistent with CZ-550 presentation.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Mechanics: Bolt cycles on the Mauser-pattern action; the Mauser-style claw extractor and two-position safety function as expected. The rifle features an adjustable single set trigger and Mauser-style controlled round feed with a square-bridge receiver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The CZ 550 is CZ’s interpretation of the classic Mauser sporting rifle, and this FS example leans heavily into European hunting tradition with its Mannlicher-full stock, Turkish walnut furniture, and steel muzzle cap. The FS (full stock) configuration and Bavarian/Mannlicher aesthetic are period-inspired choices that give the rifle a distinct, traditional silhouette while retaining modern bolt-action reliability.

Chambered in .308 Winchester — a cartridge standardized in 1952 and widely adopted for military and civilian use — this rifle offers the familiar ballistics and versatility that made the .308 a mainstay for hunting and general sporting applications. The 20.5″ hammer-forged barrel with a 1:12″ twist complements the chambering and the bright, sharply rifled bore (10/10) supports expectations for accurate, consistent performance.
