Our Assessment: The Browning Model 42 is a faithful reproduction of Winchester’s legendary Model 42, a scaled-down version of the Model 12 that is often considered the finest .410 pump ever built. Miroku of Japan produced these for Browning in the 1990s, combining modern precision with classic styling. This High Grade example shows gold inlays, detailed scroll engraving, and highly figured walnut — elevating it far above the field grade offerings.
For the .410 enthusiast, the Model 42 is one of the most coveted pump shotguns ever made, and Browning’s High Grade versions are especially desirable among collectors. Its vent rib, 26” barrel, and full choke make it a capable upland bird gun, while the artistry and condition here position it as a centerpiece in any Browning or Winchester collection.
If you’ve been searching for a like-new, boxed, High Grade Model 42, this one checks every box. The opportunities to acquire these in factory-fresh condition are few and far between. So bid high and bid firm on this exquisite and beautifully preserved Browning. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
