Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 93% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some scratches on the receiver and dust cover and some finish loss where the dust cover rests on the receiver. The screw heads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its sling and attached LPS scope with lens cover and rubber eyepiece. No magazines. No bipod.
Our Assessment: The PSL is often called a Dragunov clone in casual conversation, but it is a distinct Romanian design inspired by the SVD concept rather than a direct copy. Externally the two share visual cues—long barrels, thumbhole stocks, and AK-style controls—but the PSL is more closely tied to AK manufacturing practices with stamped components and its own unique ergonomics and accessory fitment, including the Romanian LPS optics that pair very well with the rifle’s intended role.
Functionally, the PSL was issued as a squad marksman’s rifle and performs that role well: robust, simple to maintain, and capable out past typical infantry ranges with good optics and a stable cheek weld from the thumbhole stock. This example’s clear optics, sharp bore, and high percentage of original finish make it a practical shooter for those who want a Cold War marksman rifle that can still be used and enjoyed.
From a collector’s perspective, this PSL presents nicely—matching numbers on the bolt and components, an original LPS scope with correct markings, and well-preserved woodwork contribute to its appeal. For shooters, it offers a reliable, capable 7.62x54R platform; for collectors, it represents an accessible piece of Eastern Bloc small arms history with sensible original equipment and honest condition. So bid high and bid firm. I encourage you to look at the item’s condition in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid.
