The LOP measures approximately 13 1/2 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light signs of wear with two chips in the stock. One chip is on the left side of the stock, where the forend starts to widen, and the other is on the belly of the buttstock behind the sling stud, and that chip has been taped over. There are no cracks in the stock. The stock fits the barreled action tightly, with no play. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish:  Matte Black

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition:  The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates  10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minor operational wear. The finish is deep and dark throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Fine condition.

Mechanics:  The action functions correctly, as does the safety. The trigger is light and breaks clean with minimal take-up and overtravel. The action is smooth, as most Remington 700’s are. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope base/rings as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: Introduced in the early 1990s, the Remington 700 Sendero line quickly gained a reputation as one of the most accurate factory rifles available, designed with the long-range shooter and varmint hunter in mind. Chambered here in .25-06 Remington, the Sendero Special embodies the marriage of flat-shooting cartridge performance and precision-oriented design.

The .25-06 Remington had already earned a loyal following by the 1990s, prized for its high velocity, flat trajectory, and versatility in the field. Capable of firing lighter bullets for varmints or heavier projectiles for deer-sized game, it occupied a sweet spot between .243 Winchester speed and .270 Winchester punch. Paired with the Sendero’s 26” heavy barrel and rigid synthetic stock, the result was a rifle built to wring out the full ballistic potential of the cartridge. This example, manufactured in August 1993, showcases those qualities with a bore that remains bright and sharp, rating a perfect 10/10.

Cosmetically, this rifle retains about 98% of its original finish, with only minor operational wear. The composite spiderweb stock shows light handling marks and two small chips, one of which has been neatly taped over, but it still fits the barreled action tightly. Mechanically, the action is smooth and the trigger is crisp with minimal take-up—hallmarks of the Remington 700’s enduring reputation for accuracy. For shooters or collectors, this Sendero Special stands as both a capable long-range hunting rifle and a desirable example of Remington’s high-performance 1990s production.
