Our Assessment: This Peters Stahl 1911 multi-caliber PS-07 pistol made in 1989 is an excellent example of the German company’s precision engineering and competition-oriented designs. This particular example is built with both a .45 ACP barrel and a .38 Super Auto barrel, offering versatility for both power and flatter-shooting performance. The barrels measure 5.5 inches standard and 6.25 inches with the compensator, the latter optimized for recoil management and faster follow-up shots. The front sight is a blacked-out blade fixed to the compensator, while the rear sight is a screw-set, square-notch adjustable target sight mounted to the slide, both choices reflecting the pistol’s focus on competition accuracy.
The frame is drilled and tapped for a bridge mount, allowing optics or red dots to be mounted securely, a forward-thinking feature for its time. The checkered KINGS synthetic grip panels with a flared magwell and pommel enhance reload speed and control. Peters Stahl pistols were always known for their extremely tight tolerances, precision machining, and use of polygonal rifling in their centerfire barrels, making them highly sought after among European IPSC and match shooters in the 1980s and 1990s. This 1989 multi-caliber model, with its compensator and match-ready configuration, exemplifies the brand’s reputation for building competition pistols that were both innovative and rugged.
