Our Assessment:
The Valmet M76 represents one of the finest evolutions of the Kalashnikov system. Built in Finland on the Rk.62 pattern, these rifles were manufactured to exacting standards with milled receivers, upgraded sights, and higher-quality barrels than their Soviet and Eastern Bloc counterparts. The M76/FS, with its tubular steel folding stock, was imported to the U.S. in very limited numbers by Interarms before the 1989 import ban and has since become a sought-after collectible.

In .223 Remington, this rifle was tailored for the American market, combining the legendary reliability of the Kalashnikov system with the widespread availability of Western ammunition. Unlike stamped-receiver AKM variants, the milled Valmet provides superior rigidity and accuracy, while its Finnish furniture and finish set it apart from contemporaries.

For collectors of Cold War small arms, Valmet rifles occupy an important niche as both a premium AK derivative and a direct predecessor to the Israeli Galil. This example, with its matching serial numbers, desirable folding stock, and bright bore, is an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the finest AK-based rifles ever imported. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
