Our Assessment: The Ruger Super Redhawk WWG Wolverine is already a rare beast in the revolver world, but this particular example stands in a class of its own. According to the consignor, this is the only known Wolverine revolver chambered in .480 Ruger which would make it a true one-of-one. Built on Ruger’s bombproof Redhawk platform and customized by Wild West Guns in Las Vegas, this revolver was designed with rugged field use in mind, featuring a 4 7/8″ ported barrel, OD Green and Carbon Black Cerakote finish, and durable rubber grips. The Wolverine was conceived as the ultimate backcountry sidearm, and this example pushes that vision to the absolute limit with a chambering tailor-made for deep-woods defense and big game stopping power. Its condition only enhances its appeal. The revolver retains about 99% of its WWG-applied finish, showing only the faintest signs of handling and a light turn line on the unfluted cylinder. The bore is superb, with bright lands and sharp rifling, and the action functions smoothly in both double and single action modes. The muzzle porting is well-executed and aids in taming the recoil of the potent .480 Ruger cartridge. Between the high-visibility front sight and adjustable rear, the sight picture is fast and intuitive—critical in any high-stakes encounter where this revolver might be called into action.

For collectors of rare custom revolvers, backcountry guides, or serious wheelgun aficionados, this Wolverine offers an unparalleled opportunity. The unique chambering alone makes it a crown jewel among Ruger or Wild West Guns collections, and its rugged design means it’s not just a display piece—it’s a fully functional powerhouse. Whether treasured as a singular rarity or carried as the ultimate four-legged deterrent, this one-of-a-kind WWG Wolverine delivers on every front. -R.E.
