Sights / Optics: The front sight is an hooded adjustable post set and the rear sight is a “U” tangent notch marked from “1 – 8” and “D”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is Wood 3 piece with fixed thumbhole buttstock. There are intermittent compressions. The LOP measures 12.75″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some fouling in the grooves. The bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish no operation or handling wear. There are typical light scratches scattered where metal contacts metal. Some leading edges have some wear. The screwheads are sharp to lightly tooled and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Norinco AKM/47S is a true pre-ban Chinese import, manufactured before the 1994 assault weapons ban and brought in by SILE of New York. Built on the robust stamped AKM pattern receiver, this rifle features a fixed thumbhole stock in the original three-piece wood furniture configuration, a 16-inch chrome-lined barrel with removable muzzle device, and traditional AKM sights graduated to 800 meters. Pre-ban Norinco AKs are highly sought after for their quality of construction, smooth actions, and collector value, and this example retains all the hallmarks of a factory-original configuration. One notable feature is the visible streaking in the metal finish—an artifact of late pre-ban Chinese production, when the factories were running machines at higher speeds to maximize output before the import restrictions took effect. This subtle manufacturing characteristic is well-known among collectors and adds to the rifle’s provenance.
Condition on this rifle is excellent, retaining about 99% of its original blued finish with only minor contact marks at typical metal-to-metal points. The wood furniture shows only light handling marks and remains structurally sound. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and minimal fouling, rating 9/10. Mechanically, it functions correctly, and the action exhibits the smooth cycling Norinco rifles are famous for. Included with the rifle is one original 10-round magazine, cleaning rod, cleaning kit, and a canvas sling. With its pre-ban status, outstanding condition, and distinctive late-production traits, this AKM/47S will appeal to both serious AK collectors and shooters who appreciate the craftsmanship of Chinese-made Kalashnikovs before the ban-era cutoff.
