Markings: The right side of the receiver is engraved with a coonhound. The left side of the receiver is engraved with a raccoon. The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 9422 .22 S-L-LR “MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. – WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The top of the barrel is marked with a Winchester proof mark. The underside of the receiver is marked “F678159”. The trigger group housing is marked “F678159”. The butt plate is marked with the Winchester seal.

Sights / Optics: The rear sight is an adjustable semi-buckhorn. The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped mount fixed to the barrel above the muzzle. The receiver is grooved for the mounting of optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are Winchester’s two-piece High Grade, gloss finished, checkered walnut featuring a banded forend, a straight grip, a straight comb and a black polymer buttplate. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stocks show no notable signs of wear, other than one small imperfection on the left side of the forearm, just forward of the receiver. The stocks fit the frame tightly with no play. Overall, the stocks rate in Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. This rifle appears to be unfired. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minimal wear, with the only notable imperfection being some light scratches on the top of the barrel, just in front of the barrel band. There is minimal operational wear on the action. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are unmarred. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original serial number matching box, owner’s manual, hammer extension, and factory paperwork.
Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 9422, introduced in 1972, was designed to give rimfire shooters the same feel and handling as the company’s legendary centerfire lever-action rifles. Built with solid steel receivers, high-quality walnut stocks, and smooth actions, the 9422 quickly became one of the most respected and sought-after .22 lever guns on the market. The High Grade variant, like this example, features upgraded checkered walnut and tasteful factory engraving, in this case depicting a coonhound on the right side of the receiver and a raccoon on the left.
This rifle, manufactured between 1995 and 1997, is in outstanding condition. It retains about 99% of its original blued finish with only a few light scratches on the top of the barrel ahead of the barrel band. The High Grade walnut stocks are excellent, showing only a small blemish on the left side of the forend and otherwise remaining clean, glossy, and well-fitted. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and appears unfired, rating a perfect 10/10. Mechanically, the action is smooth, the trigger is crisp, and the half-cock safety functions properly.
It comes complete with its original serial-numbered box, factory paperwork, owner’s manual, and a hammer extension.
