The grips have light handling wear with a few nicks and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition

Finish Originality: Original to the parts. The barrel is a WWII-era High Standard barrel.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is a little stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 85% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. There is handling wear in the grip areas. There is finish wear on the leading edges of the slide and dust cover. There are some other scattered spots of finish wear. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 7-round Colt magazine and a 1944 dated Boyt M1916 holster.

Our Assessment: The 1911 is one of the best pistols ever designed, seeing use in the US Military for the better part of a century and dominating pistol shooting sports for decades. This 1951 vintage commercial Government model is a great example of a post-war Commercial Government model. The pistol is in Very Good condition with light handling and operational wear, retaining a great bore in its WWII High Standard barrel and strong mechanics. The Coltwood grips which would have originally been installed have been replaced, likely due to shrinkage, common for this material. This is a nice pistol, perfect to add to any collection.
