Markings:
The chamber is dated “1917.” The toggle is marked with the DWM monogram. The left side of the barrel extension bears three Imperial German military acceptance marks. The serial number “4016” appears on the left side of the receiver, underside of the barrel, the rear of the toggle, and other small parts. The takedown lever is marked “16.” The side plate is marked “99”. It has been reblued.

Sights / Optics:
The front sight is a serrated blade dovetailed to a raised base. The rear sight is a finely graduated tangent-style sight with elevation from 100 to 800 meters, mounted to a base integral to the barrel extension.
Stock Configuration & Condition:
The two-piece checkered walnut grips show only light handling marks with no chips or cracks. The checkering remains sharp and defined.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 85% of its metal finish. Finish loss is primarily found along the leading edges, toggle knobs, and high contact areas. The strawed components have dulled but remain intact. The grip straps show expected thinning. Markings remain crisp throughout. The screw heads are serviceable with strong slots. This pistol is in Very Good-plus condition for its age and configuration.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The toggle locks and cycles smoothly. The manual safety, magazine release, and hold-open all operate as intended. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories:
This pistol comes housed in a custom hardwood display case with red velvet lining. Included are one wood-bottom nickel magazine marked “EXO / 57” (spine), “P.08” (floorplate), and “JVM” (wood base), reproduction Iron Cross, decorative patch is a reproduction of a German WWI-era marksmanship braid (Schützenschnur), typically awarded for small arms proficiency. It features a braided wreath design and period-style motif, added for display purposes to complement the historical presentation, and eight boxes of surplus German 9mm ammunition. Also included is a vintage box of Frankford Arsenal .45 ACP M1911 cartridges for display purposes only.
