Our Assessment:
Smith & Wesson’s Model 24-3 was a limited reissue of the classic N-frame .44 Special revolver, produced in the early 1980s for enthusiasts of big-bore wheel guns. Of the available configurations, the 3″ barrel variant remains one of the most desirable, striking a perfect balance between power, portability, and shootability.

This 1984 example is in beautiful condition with approximately 98% of its original blued finish intact. The red ramp front sight, smooth combat trigger, and wide-knurled hammer reflect the revolver’s serious defensive pedigree. Most striking are the smooth rosewood combat grips—rich in tone and grain, they’re a collector favorite in their own right and complete the classic S&W look.

For the serious revolver shooter or collector, this Model 24-3 represents a rare opportunity. These 3″ .44 Specials weren’t made in great numbers, and examples this clean with original factory rosewood combat stocks are increasingly difficult to source. It’s a modern classic with timeless appeal. So bid high and bid firm. I encourage you to look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
