Our Assessment: This 1939-dated Mexican Model 1910 Mauser, manufactured by Fabrica Nacional de Armas in Mexico City, has been beautifully sporterized and rebarreled in the versatile and mild-recoiling .257 Roberts cartridge. The barrel measures 22” and features a bright bore with sharp rifling, which this writer rates 9.5/10. The original military action now wears a tasteful blued finish, with the receiver fitted with two-piece Weaver-style scope bases. The bottom metal, including the floorplate and trigger guard, features attractive floral engraving, adding a custom touch to this unique build. The stock is a one-piece walnut straight-comb design with a Decelerator recoil pad and sling studs, and it remains in Excellent condition with sharp checkering and minimal handling marks. This is a lightweight, flat-shooting rifle well-suited for deer or varmints, and a fine example of a vintage C&R-eligible Mauser transformed into a handsome sporting arm. Collectors of custom bolt rifles and vintage military conversions will appreciate both the aesthetics and performance potential of this .257 sporter.
